Why does the start date fluctuate?
How many days are students in school?
Why are there 169 student days in the school calendar?
State law requires districts to provide 1,044 instructional hours, but scheduling at least 1,104 hours means snow days do not have to be made up. By adopting a 169-day calendar, the District exceeds this threshold, provides two additional days of instruction, and allows flexibility for weather-related closures. This calendar also qualifies LR3 for additional state funding—1% in 2027 and 2% beginning in 2028, which by law will be used to improve teacher salaries, helping the District remain competitive in the region.
What happens if Lebanon Schools schedules fewer student days?
Did the District add more teacher workdays?
Why does school go later into May?
LR3 schedules 169 student days while still providing a full week for Thanksgiving Break, approximately two weeks for Winter Break, and a full week for Spring Break, which extends our school year slightly beyond some neighboring districts.
These breaks received strong support in the Calendar Surveys sent out to LR3 staff, students, and community.
