In light of recent rumors circulating in our community, we wanted to republish this letter to our community from August 19, 2022. We have not changed verbiage related to “the new school year” so it’s left intact, but all that was said remains true.

A Letter From Lebanon Schools to our Community

As the new school year begins, it’s hard not to notice the current divisiveness in our state and nation when it comes to public education, as well as countless agendas and rumors. Thankfully the divisiveness and agendas do not reflect our local schools, where we continue to empower all learners with the knowledge, skills and dispositions to be ready for their futures.

Our mission is to inspire a passion for learning through positive relationships, personalized experiences, and a focus on the future.

We can assure you that our schools are still the schools you attended and know, while adapting to meet the needs of our students’ futures. Our schools reflect our local community values and are filled with kind, caring and compassionate people like we see throughout our community.

We value local control for our schools through our elected school board, district leadership and an engaged community, which is another reason why the passing of Proposition Lebanon Schools was so impactful.

What we teach in our curriculum is tailored to our community, preparing our students for their futures and the future of our community – no agendas, no sides, and contrary to rumors; absolutely no litter boxes in restrooms! When you hear rumors or just have questions, please reach out to your school’s principal. We want you to be informed with accurate information!

Our school staff are kind, caring and compassionate members of the community, who strive every day to support each child’s unique needs and help them be the best they can be.

As always, there will be many opportunities throughout this school year for parent and community feedback and engagement, especially as we begin work on our District’s next strategic plan for the future of our schools. The strategic plan focuses on priorities for our schools, including curriculum in the classroom, facility improvements and much more. Each year we host valued community and parent Superintendent’s Advisory Committees, who help guide the work we do to serve our community.

As we begin this new school year, we ask that you be engaged with our schools. Whether it’s volunteering in your child’s school or being a career mentor to a high school student or simply filling out a survey, we value your involvement. Our community’s strength is its sense of unity and shared passion for each other. We are all so grateful for the passion our community shares in supporting our schools and for your commitment to the success of all Yellowjackets!
